Urban Waxx was founded in 2007 by Shannon Conley with a singular focus: elevated guest experience, technical excellence, and strong, values-driven operations. What began as a single studio has grown into a multi-location brand with a loyal following, award-winning teams, and a proven operational model designed for scale.

Leadership

Founder and CEO – Shannon Conley Shannon launched Urban Waxx in 2007 and has led it through nearly two decades of growth while maintaining a high bar for brand integrity, training standards, and financial discipline.

Urban Waxx is a founder-led organization with clearly defined leadership and accountability, focused on balancing structure with soul—where operational rigor, transparency, and trust are non‑negotiable.

Brazilian, Thong, and Bikini Services (Waxing)

Brazilian

• Brazilian – V: Everything from the top to the labia, to the crack is removed. A triangle or strip can be left at the top, or everything can be removed.
• Brazilian – P: Everything from the top to the scrotum, to the crack is removed. A triangle or strip can be left at the top, or everything can be removed.

Brazilian and Inner Thigh

• Brazilian and Inner Thigh – V: Includes a full Brazilian (top, labia, crack) plus the line of hair below the navel and all hair from the inner thighs.
• Brazilian and Inner Thigh – P: Includes a full Brazilian (top, scrotum, crack) plus the line of hair below the navel and all hair from the inner thighs.

Brazilian and Glutes

• Brazilian and Glutes – V: Full Brazilian (top, labia, crack) plus the entire glute area.
• Brazilian and Glutes – P: Full Brazilian (top, scrotum, crack) plus the entire glute area.

Inner Thigh

• Inner Thigh – V / P: Can be added to any bikini-style service to remove all hair from the inner thighs.

Bikini

• Bikini – V: 1 finger width inside the underwear line is taken off, leaving the labia untouched. The line of hair below the navel is included.
• Bikini – P: 1 finger width inside the underwear line is taken off, leaving the scrotum untouched. The line of hair below the navel is included.

Bikini and Crack

• Bikini and Crack – V: Bikini plus the crack, leaving the labia untouched. The line of hair below the navel is included.
• Bikini and Crack – P: Bikini plus the crack, leaving the scrotum untouched. The line of hair below the navel is included.

Thong

• Thong – V: All hair is removed except for the labia, with a strip the width of the labia left at the top. The line of hair below the navel is included.
• Thong – P: All hair is removed except for the scrotum, with the option to leave a patch of hair at the top. The line of hair below the navel is included.

Thong and Crack

• Thong and Crack – V: Thong service plus the crack. The line of hair below the navel is included.

Eyebrow and Face Services (Waxing)

• Brow Shaping: Consultation, wax, trim, and tweeze to create your ideal brow shape.
• Brow Shaping and Lip: Brow shaping plus upper lip wax.
• Brow Shaping, Lip and Chin: Brow shaping with clean-up of the chin and lip area.
• Brow Shaping, Tint and Lip: Brow shaping with tint to darken brow hairs and upper lip hair removal.
• Brow Tint: Darkens brow hairs to enhance the natural brow shape.
• Full Face: Brows, lip, chin, forehead, and cheeks.
• Lip: Upper lip and corners of the top lip.
• Nostrils: Hair removal inside the nostrils.

• Brow Lamination: A ";relaxer"; for brow hair that straightens the hairs so they stay in the desired direction, creating a full, fluffy brow that can last up to eight weeks.
• Brow Lamination and Shaping: Brow lamination plus trimming and shaping.
• Brow Lamination and Tint: Brow lamination plus tint to darken and define the natural brow color.
• Brow Lamination, Tint and Shaping: Lamination, tint, and shaping for a full brow transformation.

Body Services (Waxing)

• Full Leg: Both legs, including feet and toes.
• Upper Leg: Both upper legs and knees.
• Lower Leg: Both lower legs, including knees, feet, and toes.
• Full Leg and Brazilian – V / P: Full legs (feet and toes) plus a Brazilian; includes the line of hair below the navel.
• Upper Leg and Brazilian – V / P: Upper legs and knees plus a Brazilian; includes the line of hair below the navel.
• Underarm: All hair from the underarm.
• Full Arm: Both arms, including hands and fingers.
• Full Back: Full back, including the cap of the shoulders.
• Chest: Pectoral area (does not include abdomen).
• Full Body – V / P: Everything below the neck is waxed.

Sugaring Services (Selected Areas)

Urban Waxx also offers many of the above bikini-style and facial services with sugaring instead of wax. Sugaring uses a different technique and product but achieves the same goal of removing hair from the root.

Examples of sugaring services include:

• Brazilian – V / P (Sugaring): Everything from the top to the labia or scrotum, to the crack is sugared, with the option to leave a strip or triangle.
• Brazilian and Inner Thigh – V / P (Sugaring): Brazilian plus inner thighs and the line of hair below the navel.
• Brazilian and Glutes – V / P (Sugaring): Brazilian plus the entire glute area.
• Inner Thigh – V / P (Sugaring): Inner thigh add-on to bikini-style sugaring.
• Bikini, Bikini and Crack, Thong, Thong and Crack – V / P (Sugaring): Same patterns as waxing, using sugar instead of wax.
• Facial Sugaring: Brow shaping, lip, chin, full face, and combinations using sugaring.

We offer both waxing and sugaring so we can tailor hair removal to each guest's skin, hair type, and preferences. If you are unsure what to book, please contact us or ask your Waxer during your visit.

Punctuality and Late Arrivals

• We value punctuality and strive to stay on schedule for every guest.
• If you arrive more than 5 minutes late, your appointment may need to be rescheduled so that later appointments are not delayed.
• Arriving on time also gives you a chance to relax, enjoy a beverage or snack, and fully soak in the Urban Waxx experience.

Cancellation Policy

• Urban Waxx requires at least 12 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule any appointment.
• A credit card is required to hold your reservation.
• If an appointment is canceled or rescheduled within 12 hours, or is missed entirely, 50% of the total service amount will be charged to the card on file.
• This policy helps ensure availability for all guests.

How to Cancel or Reschedule

• To cancel or reschedule, contact your location directly by phone or through its designated contact details.
• Cancellation requests submitted through the general contact form on the website are not received by the individual locations and do not count as proper notice under the cancellation policy.

How important is it that I am on time?

Punctuality is very important at Urban Waxx. We run on time integrity and are usually fully booked. If you arrive more than 5 minutes late, we may need to reschedule your appointment so that later guests are not delayed.

How often should I be waxed?

Most guests come in about every 4 weeks for services like brows, legs, or Brazilian. Your Waxer can help you adjust the timing based on your individual hair growth.

How long does a Brazilian take?

A Brazilian typically takes about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the guest and hair type. First visits may take a bit longer; regular monthly visits are usually quicker.

Hair Length and Preparation

How long should the hair be?

Urban Waxx requires at least 3 weeks of hair growth before waxing. Especially for your first wax, more growth usually leads to a better result. If the hair is too short, you may be asked to reschedule.

Will I be perfectly smooth after my first wax?

It can take 2–3 appointments to achieve completely smooth, long-lasting results because hair grows in different cycles. Some hairs may be too short to be removed at your first visit, especially for coarse or dark hair.

Comfort, Pain and Safety

Does a Brazilian hurt?

A Brazilian can be uncomfortable, but the anticipation is often the hardest part. Sticking to a regular waxing schedule typically makes it easier over time. Your Waxer will talk you through the service and help keep you at ease.

What if I have a low pain tolerance?

Guests who are concerned about discomfort may choose to take a mild pain reliever (such as Aleve or Motrin) about 30 minutes before their appointment, if appropriate for them.

Is waxing sanitary?

Yes. Urban Waxx maintains high standards of cleanliness and never double dips. Your safety and comfort are top priorities.

What kind of wax is used?

Urban Waxx uses only high-quality wax, including proprietary blends of hard wax for sensitive areas (like face, underarms, and bikini) and premium soft wax with strips for larger areas (like legs and back). The approach is tailored to each area to be as gentle and effective as possible.

Skin and Ingrown Hairs

Does waxing cause ingrown hairs?

Some people are more prone to ingrowns regardless of hair removal method. Urban Waxx recommends daily exfoliation and using an ingrown hair treatment such as Serious Serum, along with other exfoliants your Waxer may recommend.

Can everyone be waxed?

Waxing may not be suitable if you are using certain medications or have very recently treated skin. For example, guests using Retin-A, Accutane, other keratolytic medications, or those with sunburned or recently treated skin (such as after a laser peel) may not be able to be waxed in affected areas. Always inform your Waxer about medications or skin treatments.

Age Policies

• Guests must be at least 12 years old to receive waxing services at Urban Waxx.
• Guests must be 18 years or older to receive a Brazilian.
• Guests between 16 and 18 years old may receive a Brazilian with parental consent.
• Guests under 16 must have a parent present in the room for the entire service.

During Your Appointment

Do I have to be completely naked?

For bikini-style services you will undress from the waist down (including underwear), but you do not need to be fully naked. Urban Waxx teams perform these services all day and approach them professionally.

Do you provide towels or disposable underwear?

No. To provide a thorough wax, your Waxer needs full access to the area being treated, so coverings are not used.

Can someone come into the room with me?

Urban Waxx allows only one person in the treatment room at a time so your Waxer can focus on you and provide the most professional experience.

Can I be waxed during my period?

Yes. You can still be waxed while on your period. You will be asked to use a tampon, and your Waxer will work around the string.

Can I bring my child?

You may bring a child if they can remain safely seated and entertained, but children cannot be left unattended in the lobby, and a curious child around sticky wax can be unsafe. Your comfort and safety, and that of your child, are the priority.

Rewards, Packages and Products

• Urban Waxx also offers professional aftercare and skincare products, including options to help with exfoliation and ingrown hairs.
