Urban Source can update vintage or well-loved pieces, such as chairs, sofas and other upholstered items, that have worn or faded fabric or tired springs.

Services include:

• Reupholstering existing furniture
• Updating padding and internal support as needed
• Refinishing or updating visible wood elements when part of the design scope

Clients typically start by bringing in several photographs of the furniture to be reupholstered along with overall dimensions. This information helps Urban Source estimate fabric yardage and labor needs.

Customers can then browse hundreds of fabric options to choose a new look for their piece, including the option to mix fabrics or patterns for a one-of-a-kind design.

Custom furniture

In addition to reupholstery, Urban Source's upholsterer can create custom upholstered furniture from scratch, including:

• Headboards
• Sofas
• Dining chairs
• Banquettes
• Side chairs

These services allow clients to achieve a tailored, custom look that fits their space and style.

Urban Source features a range of wallcoverings and wallpapers selected to complement a variety of interior styles. Customers can browse options through the shop and work with the design team to coordinate wallcoverings with other finishes in their space.

Fabric selection

The shop offers a variety of fabrics suitable for upholstery, window treatments and soft furnishings. These fabrics are used in services such as custom upholstery, custom drapery, and other made-to-order pieces.

Soft furnishings and custom items

Using the fabrics and wallcoverings available, Urban Source can help create custom soft furnishings that coordinate with a room's overall design, including items such as:

• Custom pillows
• Custom bedding

These items are typically designed as part of a cohesive scheme that may also include window treatments, wallcoverings and furniture.

How to shop

Customers can browse a selection of wallcoverings and fabrics through Urban Source's shop page or visit the Chicago showroom during posted business hours to view materials in person and discuss options with the team.

In addition to conventional window treatments, Urban Source carries a variety of unique window treatment styles, such as:

• Metal draperies (multiple styles)
• Transitional shades (for enhanced light and privacy control)
• Woven shades
• Shutters

Custom drapery, Roman shades and roller shades are also available.

All shade products referenced are made in the USA.

Allure Transitional Shades

Allure transitional shades feature fabric vanes made from bands of material in varying opacities. As the shades are adjusted, the vanes pass each other to provide flexible control over light and privacy.

Stationary panels

Stationary panels made from performance materials such as Kova fabrics or Chilewich can be used as:

• Room dividers
• Backdrops
• Privacy panels where regular window access is not needed
• Panels in areas such as showers, where appropriate

Cornices and valances

Urban Source can create custom valances and upholstered cornices to accent windows while maintaining views. These are made to fit specific windows and can be produced in a variety of sizes, styles and fabrics.

Woven Naturals

Urban Source offers Horizons Natural Woven Shades, which use rich natural materials suited to today's warm color palettes.

These shades can be configured as:

• Flat or hobbled Roman shades
• Lined or unlined
• Twin shades, where an operable roller shade lining is paired with the woven shade for additional flexibility

Clients can further elevate the look by pairing woven shades with stationary side panels.
