Mestiza Shop

Founded in 2004 by artists and entrepreneurs Lorena and Sugeiri, Mestiza curates a mix of traditional and modern pieces that celebrate Latinx culture and heritage. After starting at 1010 W. 18th Street and focusing on online sales and local art markets from 2009–2016, Mestiza reopened in 2017 at a new Pilsen location and continues to support and highlight local artisans.

Social consciousness is central to Mestiza's mission. Most artisan work is sourced directly from makers or via fair-trade companies.

Opening hours

Current store hours:

• Tuesday – Friday: 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Saturday – Sunday: 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM

In-store and curbside pickup

For Chicago-area customers:

• In-store pickup is available for online purchases; this option can be selected at checkout.
• Customers can add a note at checkout if they would like curbside pickup.

The shop will provide instructions for pickup after an order is placed.

Return policy

• All sales are final on one-of-a-kind items, paper products, and fabric.
• A 5-day return is allowed on unused items with the receipt.
• Due to the nature of many handmade and artisan items, some products may be individually painted, detailed, decorated, or made from materials with natural variations or imperfections.
• Mestiza cannot accept returns or provide credit for items containing natural blemishes or other imperfections that occur naturally, due to the material used or how the item is created.
• The shop cannot accept returns for any items that have been worn, washed, or removed from the original packaging, unless the item is defective (for example, a hole in a sock on the first wearing).
