Brief history

Legacy Community Health was formed in 2005 through the merger of Montrose Clinic and The Assistance Fund, two Houston-area organizations that had been providing health care and medication services for nearly 30 years.

Legacy's roots go back to 1978, when Montrose Clinic was founded to provide screening, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. Over time, Legacy has expanded its services and locations, including clinics in Southwest Houston, Baytown, Beaumont and other medically underserved areas.

Legacy continues to grow as a regional health system while maintaining its focus on accessible, comprehensive, quality health care for the communities it serves.
