Expansion to the Intermountain region - In 1925, editor and Denver University economics professor Abraham D. H. Kaplan renamed the paper the Intermountain Jewish News, reflecting its growing readership throughout the Rocky Mountain area. - Over the years, the paper reported on major Jewish events worldwide, including the Holocaust and the establishment and development of the State of Israel. Ownership and leadership changes Notable editors and publishers over the decades have included: - Dr. Charles Spivak – founding editor of the Denver Jewish News - Hattie Schayer Friedenthal – editor from 1918 until her death in 1922 - A. B. Hirschfeld – state senator and printer who became publisher in 1929 - Carl Mandell – editor who reported on the existence of Nazi gas chambers in June 1942 In 1943, facing financial challenges, the Central Jewish Council approached Max Goldberg to take over the paper. Goldberg, together with Robert Gamzey, assumed ownership. - In the early 1960s, as Gamzey spent more time in Israel, Doris Sky became managing editor, a role she held until her death in 1990. - After Max Goldberg's passing in 1972, his wife Miriam H. Goldberg became editor and publisher. She served in that capacity until her passing in 2017. The modern era - Intermountain Jewish News continues to be published by the Goldberg family. - The paper has produced special large-format anniversary magazines, including a 100th Anniversary Commemorative Magazine in June 2013 and subsequent milestone issues. - IJN's early years are part of the Library of Congress' Chronicling America collection, and historical issues are accessible through archival projects such as the Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection.
