Why regular gutter cleaning matters

• Helps prevent water damage to foundations, roofs, and landscaping
• Reduces the risk of mold, leaks, and overflow during heavy rain
• Supports the overall health and lifespan of the gutter system

How often to clean gutters in Chicago

Because of Chicago's weather and nearby trees, gutters commonly need cleaning 2–4 times per year, depending on the property and surrounding foliage.

Typical recommended times for cleaning include:

• Spring – after winter to remove accumulated debris
• Early summer – to clear seeds and flowers that can cause clogs
• Early fall – before heavy leaf fall
• Late fall – final clean to prepare for winter weather

Do customers need to be home?

Customers do not need to be home during gutter cleaning as long as the property is accessible. Work can be completed and documented without disrupting daily schedules.

Water flow management

• Reconfiguring downspouts to improve drainage away from the home

When to request gutter repairs

Customers should consider repair service:

• At the first sign of sagging, separation, or visible leaks
• After severe weather events (storms, heavy snow, or ice)

• If there are signs of water damage, staining, or peeling paint beneath gutters

Repair vs. new installation

If repairs appear extensive or approaching the cost of replacement, Guaranteed Gutters may recommend considering a new gutter installation instead. In those cases, the team can explain installation options and next steps so customers can choose the best long-term solution.
