How rentals work

• Start by requesting a rental quote through our website or by contacting our team.
• A rental quote is not reserved until required documents are received and approved (see the Rental requirements, insurance, payments and deposits document for details).
• We can often accommodate extensions to active rentals; additional charges may apply.
• Delivery and pickup services are available for equipment packages.

Eastern Effects offers truck packages and transportation support to complement its lighting and grip equipment rentals.

Who may drive Eastern Effects vehicles

• A driver with a standard Class D license (or better) may drive 1-ton, 2-ton, 3-ton or 4-ton vehicles after completing a 45-minute driver training session.
• A driver with a Commercial Class C license (or better) may drive 5-ton or smaller vehicles.

Teamsters

• Teamsters are allowed to drive Eastern Effects vehicles.
• Teamsters do not have to complete a driver training session.
• Teamsters must be available by phone to receive detailed information on how to access their vehicle.

Parking and lot access

• Drivers renting an Eastern Effects truck package may be able to park in the Eastern Effects lot, subject to availability.
• Please consult your Rental Manager for current parking options.

Scheduling deliveries and pickups

• To confirm equipment package delivery or pickup times, call the main number (718) 855-1197.
• If you need to change a delivery or pickup time, call the same number; after hours calls are directed to the after-hours customer support line.

Vehicle issues outside normal business hours

• For vehicle-related problems outside normal business hours, customers with active rentals can call the main line (718) 855-1197 and follow the instructions to reach after-hours support.

Equipment rentals

To rent equipment, customers typically need to provide:

• Signed Equipment Rental Contract
• Certificate of insurance
• Credit card authorization form

Vehicle rentals

To rent a vehicle, customers typically need to provide:

• Signed Vehicle Rental Contract

Studio and office rentals

To rent studio or office space, customers typically need to provide:

• Signed Facility Rental Contract

Insurance

• Customers must provide production insurance that meets Eastern Effects' requirements.
• Eastern Effects does not sell or issue production insurance.
• The FAQs page lists a recommended insurance broker for customers who need assistance arranging coverage.
• Detailed insurance requirements are provided in a separate document linked from the Eastern Effects website.

Payment methods

Accepted payment methods include:

• Credit card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express)
• Wire transfer
• Check
• Cash

Credit terms

• Rentals are generally COD (cash on delivery).
• Customers may apply for 15-day credit terms.
• Credit checks typically take a minimum of 3 to 5 business days from the date of application submission.

Deposits

• For rentals with a duration longer than 2 weeks, Eastern Effects requires a deposit.
• The deposit amount is generally equal to one week's rental.

Reserving a rental

A rental quote is not considered reserved until:

• A signed rental agreement has been received
• A certificate of insurance has been received and approved
• A credit card authorization form has been submitted and approved

Students and expendables

• Eastern Effects rents to students and provides them with the same high-quality service as all customers.
• Expendables can be ordered with any equipment package and are billed in two ways:
• Pay-per-use expendables: billed at the end of the job for the amount cut or opened.
• Upfront purchase expendables: billed at checkout and are yours to keep.

Equipment warehouse (equipment pickup and drop-off)

• Primary warehouse location for equipment rentals:

General inquiries

• A general contact form is available on the Eastern Effects website for questions about services.
• For equipment rentals, customers are directed to use the dedicated rental quote form on the website.

After-hours support

• For after-hours support related to active rentals (equipment or vehicles), call the main number (718) 855-1197 and follow the phone instructions.

This document covers standard warehouse hours, equipment pickup and return expectations, and after-hours support options.

Warehouse hours

• Standard warehouse hours for equipment pickup and drop-off are Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.
• Eastern Effects publishes a holiday schedule on its website; hours may differ on holidays.

Pickup times

• Your Rental Manager will advise you when your order will be ready for pickup.
• The earlier an order is confirmed, the easier it is to accommodate a specific pickup time request.
• Larger orders typically take longer to prep.

Returns

• All rentals are due back by 10:00am on the return date indicated on your rental order.

Late pickups and after-hours access

• If you are running late to pick up an order, Eastern Effects can often arrange to keep the warehouse truck loading bay open past 5:00pm for an additional fee.
• If you are picking up equipment outside normal business hours, you may not be able to make adjustments to your order after the warehouse is closed.

Weekend access

• The equipment warehouse is not normally open on weekends.
• With at least 48 hours' advance notice, Eastern Effects may be able to accommodate special weekend access requests for an additional fee.

After-hours equipment or vehicle issues

For customers with active rentals:

• Eastern Effects provides after-hours support for equipment or vehicle issues.
• Call the main line at (718) 855-1197 and follow the instructions.
• Eastern Effects will work with you to troubleshoot or replace the item in question.

• Soundstage and studio campuses in East Brooklyn, New York and Kearny, New Jersey
• A total of 4 studios spread across 2 campuses
• Nearly 100,000 square feet of stage space
• Located within approximately 8 miles of the Union Zone

Productions using our stages may be able to benefit from both New York and New Jersey production tax incentives; please consult your production accountant or official program resources for specific eligibility and details.

Stage features

Typical offerings across our stages include:

• Level 2 qualified soundstages
• Cycloramas
• Production offices
• Space that can also be configured for certain event uses

Equipment and policies on stages

• Eastern Effects does not allow outside lighting and grip equipment to be brought onto our stages.
