About Diner

Diner is a neighborhood restaurant in South Williamsburg, Brooklyn, located on a corner under the Williamsburg Bridge.

Opened on New Year's Eve over twenty years ago, Diner began as a small, hospitality-driven restaurant founded by owners Andrew Tarlow and Mark Firth.

Chef Caroline Fidanza established a daily menu focused on local, seasonal, sustainable ingredients and built relationships with farmers in upstate New York and surrounding regions.

Today, Diner continues that tradition with a menu that changes regularly and a warm, bar-centered dining room housed in a 90-year-old Kullman dining car, with warm wood and aged enamel.

Leadership
  • Executive Chef: Jake Hetnarski
  • Sous Chefs: Keith Velez and Aliza Philip
  • General Manager: Melissa Allen
  • Service Manager: Matt Hachisu

Diner aims to be a welcoming place for both everyday meals and special occasions, and a long-standing touchstone for the South Williamsburg neighborhood.

Food, menus and natural wine

Diner's menu is written in-house and changes frequently, reflecting the availability of local, seasonal, and sustainably produced ingredients.

The kitchen's approach is rooted in long-standing relationships with farms and producers in upstate New York, around the greater New York region, and nearby states. Many dishes highlight vegetables, meats, dairy, and other products sourced directly from these partners.

Know Your Farmers and sourcing

When you dine at Diner, more of your money goes directly to the people growing the restaurant's vegetables and raising its animals. This helps protect local farmland and contributes to a healthier environment through soil regeneration.
