History

Accelerance's origins trace back to Andy Hilliard's experience as a Peace Corps Small Enterprise Development volunteer in Costa Rica. After working at Cognizant Technology Solutions and learning best practices in India-based offshore software development, Andy started IsThmus, a nearshore software development company in Costa Rica.

Accelerance's certified partner network later expanded to Asia and Eastern Europe. In 2009, Andy divested his ownership of IsThmus, and the Accelerance business model began with outsourcing expert Steve Mezak.

Today, the Accelerance Global Network of Certified Partners involves vetting development partners worldwide and sending Accelerance teams to countries to understand capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses, build working relationships, and certify leading partners.
